How the index is counted

  • Which ads: every job ad open on RoleFinder when the weekly snapshot ran, read from employers' own applicant tracking systems. An employer that posts the same job title in many cities counts once per country.
  • What counts: an ad whose title or description names one of the tools or terms below. "Mention an AI tool" means at least one of them, the general LLM and generative AI terms included. A mention is not an AI job: an ad can list ChatGPT among the tools a team already uses.
  • Accuracy: for each tool we read up to 100 random matching ads by hand and counted how many really meant that tool (precision below, with the number of ads read).
  • Roles are shown only where at least 30 ads are open. Employers are up to 15 with the most ads mentioning AI, each with at least 3.
  • A country gets its own figures once it has at least 2,000 open ads after removing repeats. Europe adds up 32 countries, the UK included.
  • Counted: the tool named as part of the job (a skill asked for, a tool the team uses or provides, the product or stack the role works on). Not counted: other things with the same name, AI companies named as customers, investors or partners, and notices about candidates using AI in applications or interviews.
  • A tool is not counted on its maker's own ads (OpenAI on OpenAI's, Copilot on Microsoft's and GitHub's, Gemini on Google's).
  • Job boards that re-list other companies' ads (Jobgether) are left out.
  • Employers are grouped across spellings and legal suffixes (Bosch and Robert Bosch GmbH are one). An employer whose name is only an applicant tracking board code or slug, and that could not be checked by hand, is left out of the employer tables; its ads still count in every total.
  • Coverage follows the employers RoleFinder reads (about 33,000 career sites on 2026-11-05); week to week changes include changes in that coverage.
